MY WESTFIELD BUILD

Stage 4

I Contacted R.P.I. international on their web site and ordered an Edelbrock/Weber performer series carb/manifold kit (another power upgrade!) I read a magazine workshop test where they compared my Edelbrock/Weber four barrel, the Holley four barrel, a Quad SU system and the original SU twin carb set up. And the Edelbrock/Weber came tops on torque, power and economy.

(click here to see carb test)

spent a night bolting on the inlet manifold, carb and all the associated bits and bobs(fuel regulator, petrol pipes etc.)

Also I finalised the radiator so nosecone could be finished. Air cleaner and battery were next ,followed by choke and throttle cables, horns and remote oil filter (Real Steel again).

After new plug leads and spark plugs, petrol, oil and water were put in I decided to turn it over with the coil disconnected to make sure all was well.Good job I did "no oil pressure!!" Further investigation revealed I had piped up the remote oil filter the wrong way round, "apparently the oil will only flow through it in one direction".With this remedied I was ready to start again "problem solved!!" I now re-connected the coil and held my breath, third turn of the key and the engine fired up but petered out again, on the fifth try I was rewarded with deep V8 roar "success " "I had a livin breathin V8!!"

Now that only leaves me with one problem, how do I get the completed car off the chassis trolley? The answer came in the shape of my brother in laws J.C.B!! So.......J.C.B. at the heavy end........

...........and a slightly stressed out me at tother end"hope we don't drop it now"

which got it on its wheels finally(err I did'nt try it up the road then honest!!)

The next stage is to prepare it for Single Vehicle Approval....S.V.A.
